In Jamaica the term 'the seasons' has not, traditionally, meant 'Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter' but rather the May and October 'Seasons' when the two rainy seasons of the year are expected to occur. People seem to have complained over the centuries that 'the seasons' were not as regular as they were in the past, but that may just be a characteristic of climatic phenomena - they vary greatly over time!
On this site I shall try to give some history of 'the seasons', interesting events connected with them, and their variations over time.
"As regards the variation from month to month it is
seen that the May and October seasons are well
marked although subject to great irregularities, and
from this fact our weather wise friends may take
heart and hope that the past two 0r three years,
absence of the good old-time rains may be only one
of those vagaries which MR. MAXWELL HALL states
is to be expected from past experience"
